How are sunken or uneven pavers repaired?

The affected pavers are lifted, the base underneath is rebuilt and compacted, and the same pavers are reset to the surrounding height. Joint sand is then swept in and compacted. Fixing the base, not just adding sand on top, is what keeps the low spot from coming back.
